About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Control Management Specialist in our Financial Crimes Operations Controls ('Controls') group.


The Controls group partners with Financial Crimes Operations Utility ('FCO') in support of FCO's strategic priorities by proactively identifying associated risks and ensuring existing and future FCO-owned controls are designed and operating to mitigate risks. 

 The Senior Control Management Specialist for Financial Crimes Operations Controls will assist the team in transforming and managing the risk environment for FCO. This includes control support (e.g., identification and evaluation of risks and controls, providing credible challenge), understanding and assisting with maintaining an appropriate control environment, risk and control self-assessments, ensuring compliance with company policies, and assisting with the design and execution of process improvements, including leveraging technology, to automate processes and implementation of internal controls.  The Controls group also provides administrative support to FCO, as needed, for Audits, Regulatory Exams, and Compliance Testing & Validation engagements

In this role, you will:

  • Participate in identifying, assessing, managing, and mitigating current and emerging risk exposures within Financial Crimes Operations Utility

  • Provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and business controls

  • Monitor complex business specific programs and provide risk management consulting to support the business in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies

  • Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report on the impact of decisions and controls to the relevant business group or functional area

  • Provide guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of business specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk

  • Collaborate with relevant business group to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations

IMPORTANT NOTE: This role is not open to telecommute. Candidate must reside within a reasonable commute to one of the addresses listed in the posting.

Required Qualifications, US:

  • 4+ years of Risk Management or Control Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of BSA/AML regulations

  • Experience in end-to-end processing to identify risk factors and evaluate the adequacy of controls

  • Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) experience

  • Familiarity with issue remediation and issue management process

  • Knowledge of FCO policies, procedures and operating model including systems and platforms used to carry out activities along with key risks and controls.

  • The ability to effectively build and manage relationships with aligned business partners and others

  • Assisting with root cause analysis of operational errors/gaps and partnership with Operations to ensure sustainable solutions are implemented that address the root cause.

  • Experience preparing clear, concise presentations for management and senior leaders.
